On 24 September 2020 the official handover of the first e-troFit series bus to the Stadtwerke Landshut took place in the exhibition hall in the Landshut Exhibition Park. Mayor Alexander Putz accepted the vehicle on behalf of the city of Landshut. The decommissioned diesel city bus of the Stadtwerke Landshut has been given a second life in a pilot project with e-troFit GmbH. Since mid-September 2020 it has been used as an electric bus in regular service.
Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, Hubert Aiwanger, commented: "This technology is very promising and could accelerate the economically efficient electrification of transport and commercial vehicles by converting existing diesel vehicles to electric drive. An exciting project 'Made in Bavaria' that is sustainable and underpins Bavaria's innovation leadership".

In order to reduce pollutants, a concept was developed for retrofitting old diesel trucks with electric drives. The electricity required for the electric trucks is used from the in-house photovoltaic systems of the customers supplied by Herbert Temmel GmbH. The aim is to create emission-free and low-noise transport and logistics in urban areas.
